What’s the Big Deal About Linseed Oil in MULTIMAX Multi-Purpose Paint?

If you’re looking for a durable, all-in-one paint that can handle timber, concrete, galvanised steel, Zincalume®, and more, MULTIMAX Multi-Purpose Paint is your solution. But what makes it stand out? The secret ingredient: Linseed Oil.

Why is Linseed Oil in MULTIMAX?

Linseed oil is a natural binder that has been used in paints for centuries. Unlike standard acrylic paints, which simply form a layer on the surface, linseed oil has a unique wicking and bonding ability, allowing it to penetrate and grip onto imperfect surfaces. This gives MULTIMAX a major advantage over conventional acrylics.

Better Adhesion to Imperfect Surfaces  – Ideal for weathered timber, rough concrete, and aged metal.

Superior Water Resistance  – Helps prevent moisture damage, making it perfect for outdoor use.

Tough & Durable  – Initially soft, but hardens over time as the linseed oil cures, forming a long-lasting, protective finish.

Enhanced UV Protection  – Absorbs UV rays, reducing fading and wear.

Where Can You Use MULTIMAX?

MULTIMAX is a primer, undercoat, and finish coat in one, making it ideal for:

  • Homes & Garages – Weatherboards, fascias, gables, doors, windowsills.

  • Outdoor Structures – Fences, sheds, farm buildings, gates, and posts.

  • Industrial Surfaces – Roofs, spouting, warehouses, galvanised steel.

It’s a true multi-surface paint designed to last.

It's made right here in New Zealand for New Zealand conditions.

How to Use MULTIMAX

1. Surface Preparation

  • Remove dirt, moss, and mould using a suitable cleaner.

  • Scrape off flaking or loose paint.

  • For porous surfaces like unsealed concrete or terracotta, apply a seal coat before painting.

  • For smooth, baked surfaces (like Colorsteel®), use ROOFMAX PRIMER first.

2. Application

  • Stir well before use.

  • Apply with a brush, roller, or airless spray.

  • Two finish coats are recommended for the best protection.

  • Avoid painting if rain is expected within 24 hours.

3. Drying & Curing

  • Touch dry: 30 minutes

  • Recoat: 2 hours

  • Full hardening:

Several days as the linseed oil cures.
